Printing guidelines

What should I do before printing?

Before starting to print, please ensure that your printer is equipped with the latest technical status and available nozzles. Please ensure that the media is fixed to the take-up unit before starting to print. Pay attention to the printer’s “heat-up mode”, as high temperatures can cause curling or wrinkles in the media. To reach optimum print quality, please ensure that the media feed and the bi-directional adjustment have been carried out. Ensure that the printer is set to “full with scan”. All print media should be acclimatised for a minimum of 24 hours to the same temperature and humidity as the printer room.

How can I optimise this media profile?

We would recommend a relinearisation of the media profile with a spectrophotometer to ensure optimum results.

What is meant by “viewing distance recommendation”?

The minimum distance between the printed graphic and the observer. Please note that the recommended viewing distance is to be used as a guide only as quality may vary with the image and the type of print media used.

What is the “recommended working environment”?

A clean, dust-free environment with temperature and humidity control. If your environmental condensation deviates from our recommendation, your profile needs to be adjusted. If any of the parameters are changed, this may have an impact on the print quality.

Recommended temperature: 23° Celsius

Recommended humidity: 55%, without condensation

What about the correct heater settings?

The effective heater temperature may vary from printer to printer due to climatic conditions. As such, it is necessary to assimilate the heater settings to your local ambient environment.

What if I printing with latex technology?

If OMAS is off, carry out a manual adjustment for the media and change the “advance factor” in the profile. Check the colour calibration status and revise if necessary. We would recommend that colour bars are added. If you are using an overlaminate, please carry out a compatibility test and adjust the overcoat if necessary. Pay attention to printer’s “heat-up mode”, as high temperatures can cause curling or wrinkles on the media. Do not print on monomeric products without the foam, roll-cleaning tool.

What should I do after printing?

Please make sure the printed graphic is completely dry before laminating. This can vary by product, printer platform and/or ink type but we would ordinarily recommend 48 hours for IP print media.
